Scientific Studies

Numerous scientific studies have examined the effects of blue light on the eyes and the potential of filters to limit its impact.

Here is a selection of recognized studies that support the effectiveness of blue light filtering glasses:

1. Study published on National Library of Medicine in the journal Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics (2017 )

This study showed that wearing blue light filtering glasses in the evening significantly reduces exposure to short-wavelength light, thus improving visual comfort and sleep quality.

2. University of Houston Study (2017)

Researchers observed that participants wearing blue light filtering glasses two hours before bedtime experienced an average 58% increase in melatonin production, making it easier to fall asleep and reducing eye strain.

3. The Long-Term Effect of Blue-Light Blocking Spectacle Lenses (Frontiers, 2022)

Researchers have studied the long-term effect of blue light filtering lenses on the perception of visual contrast compared to standard lenses.

Their observations highlighted clinically significant differences in contrast measurements depending on the experimental conditions tested.

4. AuréaVue™ clinical study – Dr Lemaire (French Vision Institute, 2025)

90 participants exposed to screens daily used AuréaVue blue light filtering glasses for 21 days.

  • 87% saw a significant reduction in eye strain.
  • More than 8 out of 10 noted better visual comfort at the end of the day.
  • Participants reported better tolerance to prolonged bright screens.

Conclusion : Blue light filters help reduce visual fatigue and maintain eye comfort during prolonged screen use.
